Children’s Medical Services | Children’s Medical Services is a Georgia Department of Public Health program that works with health care providers and community partners to make sure children and youth with chronic medical can easily access affordable health care services. CMS assist families with specialty visits, medication and supplies, durable medical equipment and diapers as well as care coordination.

Ellis Center | Ellis Center is a nonprofit serving children with complex communication needs and multiple disabilities and their community. Their four programs are focused on school-aged children (ages 5 – 22) with multisensory impairments, their families and the greater community. They provide a year-round school with part-time, full-time and extended school year offerings. Additionally, they have a summer camp for AAC users, Camp ImpAACt, offer specialized evaluations like cortical vision impairment and lead community education programs.

The Branch Out Initiative | The Branch Out Initiative is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that hosts adaptive nature-based events for children with developmental disabilities. Our programs are designed to support participants with a variety of support needs, including unique sensory needs, conditions such as autism or Down Syndrome, alternative forms of communication, and wheelchair users in some situations. Currently, most of our programs are on pause due to Covid, but we share at-home resources for families on our website. Feel free to reach out over email or social media!

G3 Robotics | We are a Robotics team from Grady High School. For the past 3 years, we’ve focused on using our technology to provide fun and educational activities for special needs families.  Since we cannot host in-person events right now due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have created a series of STEM-related experiments which use common household objects, so your child can continue to explore engineering and technology right from your living room. These activities can be made more easy or difficult depending on your child’s needs. You can view the activities at www.g3robotics.com/engineeringathome, and send us the results when you’re done! Prior to COVID-19, we hosted Adaptive Maker Faire events at our school, where children were able to drive our robot, fly our drones, and explore a variety of STEM and sensory activities. The activities were specially designed to work with the children’s sensory, communicative, and mobility needs. We plan to begin hosting these again once the pandemic is over — to stay up-to-date with our new initiatives, you can subscribe to the mailing list on our website (we never spam)!

OMiToys – Discovery Toys | Naomi, of OMiToys, is a Play Advisor with Discovery Toys. All games and toys are person powered and help kids learn through play! The products have more than one use or learning objective, are great for all ages and abilities, and lots of fun. These are typical toys that can be used by ALL children and adults. I help parents rediscover the power of play and how to make it work for their family and friends.

FOCUS | Our mission is to embrace and equip families of children with disabilities to make everyday life better.  We offer Comfort with support groups, hospital visits and bereavement support. Hope is offered through parent newsletters, workshops, education conferences (like this one!), resources, and respite. Fun is found in our family activities, summer day camp, swim team, overnight camps and activities for teens and young adults. We also offer prescribed, necessary Equipment not covered by insurance to make families’ everyday lives better and to give them easier access to their community.
