Sibling Support

Chattahoochee Valley Sibling Support Group (CVSSG) was created in an effort to provide support for typical pre-teens and teens. My name is Michael and I have four siblings with autism. The goal of CVSSG is to provide pre-teens and teens with information and resources to enhance your interactions with your siblings and their disabilities. The information and resources will enable you to effectively participate in your sibling’s daily routine.

NDSC’s Adult Sibling Toolkit Created for adult siblings, this toolkit is designed to jump-start conversations with parents about becoming more involved in their brother or sister’s life.

Sibling Support Project  Founded in 1990, the Sibling Support Project is the first national program dedicated to recognizing, promoting and addressing the life-long and ever-changing concerns of millions of siblings of people with developmental, health, and mental health concerns. We are proud to be a program of Kindering.  Our work spans books and publications, online communities for teen and adult siblings, and workshops and training. We are best known for helping local communities start Sibshops—lively peer support groups for school-age brothers and sisters of kids with disabilities and health concerns.

Sibshops with Lekotek Sibshops create opportunities for brothers and sisters of children with disabilities or special needs to meet other siblings and gain support in a fun atmosphere. Sibshops conducted by Lekotek reflect our commitment to siblings who have the longest-lasting relationship with their brother or sister. Sibshops acknowledge that being the brother or sister of a person with special needs is for some a good thing, others a not-so-good thing, and for most somewhere in between. They reflect that brothers and sisters have much to offer each other when given the chance.  Hosts events and monthly meetings.

Sibshops with Autism Spectrum Support Group Siblings of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) have specific concerns and needs related to life with autism. Spectrum offers a special group just for siblings during our monthly meetings facilitated by a trained leader. The program involves group discussion, arts & crafts and games and utilizes the SibShop curriculum by Don Meyer, which was specifically designed for children with siblings with special needs.
