Summer Day Camp Jobs

We are preparing for another fun summer of our adapted summer day camp, Camp Hollywood, where everyone’s a star.  We are looking for some caring people who can help serve in the following roles. Please apply here if you are interested in working at Camp Hollywood this summer!

Camp Hollywood is an adaptive summer day camp for campers with disabilities ages 5-29 and their siblings. Campers enjoy a day filled with movie themed activities in arts & crafts, science, cooking, recreation, and music.

Camp Hollywood Schedule

  • June 3-7: McDonough & Lawrenceville
  • June 10-14: Marietta 1 & Atlanta
  • June 17-21: Decatur 1 & Marietta 2
  • June 24- 28: Decatur 2 & Alpharetta
  • July 8-12: Peachtree City

 

Activity Leaders

Activity Leaders are responsible for leading, engaging, and implementing program activities such as cooking, games, crafts, science, or songs. Activity leaders deliver enjoyable, interactive activities for campers, using supplied activity plans and enhancing the plan with their own creative ideas. Activity leaders should modify activities for each group and stretch the activities to last at least 30 minutes. Activity leaders should minimize downtime and communicate daily with the camp director about any issues that arise. Activity leaders are responsible for maintaining the order and cleanliness of supplies and should assist groups during non-activity periods, especially lunch.

 

Group  Leaders

Group Leaders are responsible for leading an assigned group of up to nine campers for the duration of the camp day. Group Leaders participate alongside campers, teaching skills, providing encouragement, and facilitating opportunities for interaction between campers. Group leaders should be familiar with all camper needs, especially medical issues and allergies. Group leaders manage any behavior issues that arise and keep the group on schedule. They also supervise and give guidance to volunteers. Group leaders should communicate daily with parents about each’s child’s day via the daily communication sheet and should discuss any issues that arise with the camp director and parents.

 

Attendants

Attendants are responsible for managing day-to-day toileting care of campers during camp hours. Attendants will check all campers in on the first day of camp and discuss all toileting needs with parents Attendants should ensure that all campers are toileted throughout the day and document toileting care as appropriate. Attendants should communicate daily with parents about toileting for each child via the daily communication sheet and should discuss any issues that arise with the camp director and parents.

 

Nurses

Nurses manage day-to-day medical care of campers during camp hours. Nurses will check all campers in on the first day of camp and discuss all medical needs with parents. Nurses will administer any required daily medications, handle all gastric tube feedings and necessary respiratory procedures, manage any first aid needs that may arise, and document medical care as appropriate. Nurses should check in with each group several times daily and assist groups during down time. Nurses may also be asked to assist with toileting and feeding, as needed.
