accessibleGO is a travel platform for people with disabilities offering bookings, reviews and community.   We have everything you need for your travel plans under one roof including hotel, car and flight bookings, as well as a forum for connecting with other travelers with disabilities and inspirational content on accessible travel ideas. Best Buddy Program creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, leadership development, and inclusive living for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Several colleges participate.

Bobby Dodd Institute empowers people with differing abilities to maximize their potential by securing economic self-sufficiency, independence and inclusion within their communities.  We offer a complete community-based system of services to support parents and caregivers of children with disabilities. We connect local families with federal resources, as well as intensive hands-on support for families in crisis.

The Branch Out Initiative use nature to connect children with special needs to science, art, and recreation.  Our programs are designed to support participants with a variety of adaptive needs, including unique sensory needs, conditions such as autism or Down Syndrome, alternative forms of communication, participants with interveners, and wheelchair users in some situations.

Children’s Books: Portrayals of People with Disabilities This webpage was curated in conjunction with Mary Anne Prater, the author or co-author of seven books and dozens of academic journal articles on teaching students with developmental difficulties as well as special and general education topics, this search tool contains information and synopses of children’s and young adult literature about or having to do with people with disabilities.

ConnectAbility offers a monthly respite night, parent support groups, sibling workshops, and other educational and social events for families.  ConnectAbility currently serves families from five counties (Lumpkin, Dawson, White, Forsyth, and Hall) All events and services are free of charge for families.

Danny Did Foundation While no device has been proven to prevent epilepsy-related mortality (including SUDEP), the Danny Did Foundation is devoted to seeking out seizure detection and seizure prediction devices – as well as other technologies – that are designed to enable intervention by a caregiver. Intervention is believed to reduce the risks that accompany epilepsy. We present these products for further review and investigation by anyone connected to seizure disorders.

The DDD Foundation, Inc. – Dentistry for the Developmentally Disabled is a nonprofit dental clinic providing accessible, comprehensive dental care to patients of all ages with developmental disabilities.  Services include dental cleanings, fillings, extractions, space maintainers, anterior root canals, x-rays, sealants, partials, blood work and IV conscious sedation.  Hospital dentistry under general anesthesia is offered to those patients who cannot safely receive conscious sedation in a clinic setting.  Medicaid is accepted for patients in the Medicaid system who are categorized as disabled, SSI, blind, or who qualify for a deeming waiver.  Located in Atlanta.

ESP Extra Special People, Inc. strives to enhance the lives of children with developmental disabilities and their families by focusing on their abilities – not disabilities. ESP provides services throughout the year to residents of nine counties in Northeast Georgia.

Feeding Tube Awareness Foundation First, we would like to help other parents by sharing practical experience tube-feeding infants and children. Secondly, we would like to raise positive awareness of tube feeding so that families have the support they need.

Fulton County Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities, and helping to develop opportunities for everyone. Fulton operates three outpatient Training Centers that offer life-skills, therapeutic and behavioral health support services to approximately 300 consumers annually.

Georgia Advocacy Office To organize our resources and follow our values and legal mandates in ways which substantially increase the number of people who are voluntarily standing beside and for people in Georgia who have significant disabilities and mental illness.

Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities The mission of GCDD is to advance social change, public policy, and innovative practices that increase opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families to thrive where they live, learn, work, play, and worship in Georgia’s communities.

Georgia’s Hope Georgia’s Hope is a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that all patients in Georgia have access to medical cannabis right here in our state.  Started by parents of children with seizures.

Help Me Grow Georgia is a free, confidential, access point for healthcare referrals and follow-up services to support the well-being of children birth to 8 years old, and their families by linking them to essential services within their community. By actively listening to needs of clients, Help Me Grow liaisons work to help link them to developmental screening, day care, early learning resources and behavioral services by coordinating with child focused programs within the local community. In 2019, 3,702 callers were served through the Help Me Grow Georgia line.
