Where: FOCUS office, 3825 Presidential Parkway, Suite 103, Atlanta, GA 30340

This past Saturday and Sunday, ten Dunwoody High School high school arts students volunteered their time, effort, and creativity to create a beautiful mural in the lobby of the Families of Children Under Stress (FOCUS) office. This collaboration is intended to make the office more inviting and friendly for children and families when they visit. The art students designed and painted one wall with cheerful objects and colorful images of children. National Art Honor Society encourages students to do outreach in their communities and to give back. They have done this so well in working on this project. The smiles that their artwork will encourage and the warmth it is providing to an otherwise dull office space will be appreciated for a long time to come. The students will be returning to the office on Saturday, October 30th to finish up the mural. We are so excited to see it completed.

Here are some photos of the mural in process:

About FOCUS

Families of Children Under Stress (FOCUS) was founded in 1983 by families who were looking for connection and support for their children and themselves. The mission of FOCUS is to embrace and equip families of children with disabilities to make everyday life better. Fun, Comfort, Hope and Equipment are the four pillars of FOCUS as we aim to improve the lives of not only our children, but also their families. Fun activities we organize and implement include family outings, summer day camps, as well as teen and young adult social activities, outings and overnight programs all adapted specifically for children with disabilities. Hospital visits, support groups and respite programs are some of the comfort we offer for families in need. Through our annual education conference, workshops and connections to other resources we provide hope to families. Our equipment program assists families with a loaned equipment library as well as an equipment grant program to provide equipment that helps with daily living for children. Through financial support and volunteering, everyone can help our FOCUS families to improve their quality of life. To learn more, visit focus-ga.org.
