Online Workshop: Special Education Challenges During COVID-19

July 28, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

With Christy Calbos, Special Education Law & Advocacy for Children

During the current pandemic, families are being presented with unique educational decisions to make. Schools and parents are searching for solutions. Families of children with IEPs or 504 Plans have many questions such as: “What will be offered? How do I find out if my child is receiving appropriate support? How do I advocate for what I believe my child needs in order to make progress? What are my rights? What can I do about regression from the springtime closures? What will happen to my child’s services and therapies if the schools close again this coming school year?” Please join FOCUS and Georgia special education attorney Christy Calbos (The Calbos Law Firm) for a look at the common questions parents have and what families may want to talk about with the special education and 504 personnel in their child’s school. Christy will also cover collaborative teamwork and advocacy.
